For all you Arctic Monkeys fans out there here is a taster of what the bands brand new album ‘Humbug’ has in store for us.

Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning

‘Crying Lightning’ is instantly recognisable Arctic Monkeys with a twist. A darker, deeper sound comes from vocalist Alex Turner with lyrics such as,

“And your past-times, consisted of the strange
And twisted and deranged
And I hate that little game you had called
Crying lightning
And how you like to aggravate the ice-cream man on rainy afternoons”

The trademark surf guitar sound is back but it is also accompanied by a deep bass and percussion to accentuate Turner’s more mature sound.

Overall a very promising return from the sons of Sheffield which will no doubt rev up the hype surrounding ‘Humbug’ in the next month before it’s release on the 24th August.
