Both releases featured from last week, Biffy Clyro’s ‘Only Revolutions’ and Snow Patrol’s ‘Up to Now’, managed to break into the top 10, at number 8 and 3 respectively.

This week see’s the much anticipated release of supergroup Them Crooked Vultures’ self titled debut album. For more information and a preview of the bands material see this article. Welsh rockers Stereophonics also release their latest album titled ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’.

New album releases for this week (November 9th) include:

Biffy Clyro – ‘Only Revolutions’
Snow Patrol – ‘Up to Now’

A lack of good new album releases this week means I’m having to feature Snow Patrol’s greatest hits album. First of all, there is actually demand for a Snow Patrol greatest hits album? Secondly, do Snow Patrol actually have any decent tracks to put on a Snow Patrol greatest hits album?

Anyway, end of rant. Somewhat surprisingly none of the albums featured here last week managed to hit the top 40. I thought Julian Casablancas would have had a chance of pushing into the charts.

Hopefully Biffy Clyro will manage to fair better this week with the release of their new album ‘Only Revolutions’. After the success of Puzzle I believe they will.

Julian Casablancas – ‘Phrazes for the Young’
Flight of the Conchords – ‘ I Told You I Was Freaky’
Weezer – ‘Raditude’
Local Natives – ‘Gorilla Manor’

Johnny Foreigner, who’s new album I just reviewed here, unfortunately didn’t make it into the top 40.

However Wolfmother, with their long awaited second album ‘Comic Egg’ managed to edge into the top 40 at number 35.

The much anticipated debut solo album from The Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas is out today, check out this article I posted last week to preview some of the tracks taken from the album. After plenty of coverage expect the album to feature highly in the album charts next week.

Of the releases featured here on Indiescreet last week Seasick Steve managed an extremely impressive number 4 with his latest album ‘Man From Another Time’. A great feat for a man who plays the blues on a three stringed guitar in a day and age where autotune and studio enhancements are rife and image is everything.

I expect Miike Snow to perform pretty well in the charts next week, hopefully they’ll manage to break into the top 10 on the back of singles ‘Animal’ and ‘Black & Blue’.

New releases for this week (October 19th) include:

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Seasick Steve – ‘Man From Another Time’
Kings Of Convenience – ‘Declaration of Dependence’
Spiral Stairs – ‘The Real Feel’

Out of the releases featured from last week only Editors’ latest album really managed to feature highly in the chart, and very highly at that, hitting the number one spot ahead of a number of other high profile new releases.

Sadly The Flaming Lips didn’t manage to make it into the top 40 with their epic new album ‘Embryonic’.

Although I’m not at all a fan of Twilight, to put it lightly, I have no choice but to feature the soundtrack to the latest film New Moon here, simply due to the massive amount of talent featured on one LP.

Featuring the likes of Thom Yorke, Muse, Grizzly Bear, Death Cab For Cutie and more the soundtrack may well be more of a hit to non Twilight fans than the millions of Twihards out there.

New releases for this week (October 12th) in the UK include:

Editors – ‘In This Light And On This Evening’
Bob Dylan – ‘Christmas in the Heart’
The Flaming Lips – ‘Embryonic’
Echo & The Bunnymen – ‘The Fountain’
Fuck Buttons – ‘Tarot Sport’
Pixies – ‘Minotaur Limited Edition’ (15th)

Mumford & Sons, featured in last weeks new releases managed to hit number 11 with their album ‘Sigh No More’. An impressive feat for what could be pretty much describes as a folk band.

The Flaming Lips are back this week with their much anticipated eic double album ‘Embryonic’. After featuring a couple of great leaked tracks a few weeks back and the video to ‘I Can Be A Frog’ last week I can’t wait to hear what Mr Coyne & Co have in store for us this time around.

Other acts which should fair well in the charts include Editors and Echo & The Bunnymen.

Albums from last week which charted in the UK top 40 included Ian Brown with his latest album ‘My Way’ at number 8, Hockey with ‘Mind Chaos’ at 33 and Zero 7 with ‘Yeah Ghost’ at 39.

Madonna was knocked off the top spot by Paramore with their latest album ‘Brand New Eyes’, most likely bought by every Twilight fan in the UK.

New release this week include recent Radio 1 invitees Mumford & Son and longstaying indie rockers Idlewild.
