A summer hit, what images does this conjure up in your mind? The first things that come into mind for myself are Cliff Richard and Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff, not the nicest images eh…

Dinosaur Pile-Up’s new track Summer Hit is what I will now and forever more want to associate those two words with. The track oozes cool, it’s the kind of tune I can imagine QOTSA releasing and it becoming a sleeper hit. Hopefully Dinosaur Pile-Up can receive as much exposure as they have in the past to get this tune to as many ears as possible.

Dinosaur Pile-Up Class Of 85

I first came across Dinosaur Pile-Up after Zane Lowe championed their first single My Rock N Roll, a dark and brooding track which pulls no punches. The bands second release was Traynor, in a similar vein to My Rock N Roll this track has a deep bass running throughout but is more guitar riff oriented.

You can listen to all three tracks I have just spoken about over at Dinosaur Pile-Up’s MySpace Page.

Dinosaur Pile-Up have an EP in the works, it will be out in mid August and will feature Summer Hit. The full tracklisiting is:

Summer Hit
Opposites Attract
Cat Attack
Melanin
Beach Bug

Dinosaur Pile-Up are playing a number of festivals this summer, they include:

Oxegen (July 10th)
T In The Park (July 11th)
Leeds and Reading (August 28th and 29th)
Bestival (September 11th)

Here is a small snippet of My Rock N Roll,
