Guys, give a nice warm welcome to Taylor! She’ll be shooting some pics and hopefully filming more interviews over the coming months for Indiescreet.

Taylor headed to Penn State University to check out We Are Scientists and grabbed a great last minute interview with 2/3 of the band. Hopefully with ‘Barbara’ the band will be able to capture some of the creativeness which brought them such popularity when ‘With Love and Squalor’ hit the big time way back in 2005.

Article, photos and interview by Taylor Farnsworth.

We Are Scientists were on their “Big Fuckin’ Deal Tour,” 4 days, 4 cities, including Washington, D.C., Philly, Pa, Hoboken, New Jersey, and State College, Pa at Penn State University, here I met up with them.

We Are Scientists consists of Keith Murray (Lead Vocalist and Guitarist) and Chris Cain (Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals.) For this tour Danny Allen is their drummer from the band Youth Group, although from talking to the band this is not likely to be a permanent position. These fun loving guys put on a great energetic show at Penn State University.

Unfortunately Keith could not attend the interview but Chris and Danny joined me before the concert began. Throughout the interview they told me to look forward to their new album, ‘Barbara’, which is being released in May 2010.

To get the full effect of the interview I would recommend watching because of their unique personalities. The band talked about where their name originated from, their want for dark skin, their new TV show and plenty more random subject areas.

When I met with them they were on their third day of their tour and told me how disappointing it was to start out feeling like it’s the beginning and basically hitting a brick wall at full speed at the end of the four days. After our interview wrapped up I had a chance to talk to Keith briefly. He apologized for not being able to attend our interview and told me to enjoy the concert, which I sure did.

The concert was energetic as were the crowd. Throughout the concert the band was asking, “Where’s the party at?” with people throwing dollar bills, business cards, gum, candy cigarettes and other items with addresses written on them with party locations. Along with addresses and cell phone numbers there were messages advertising futons for them to crash for the night.

They played songs from their albums, ‘With Love and Squalor’, ‘Brain Thrust Mastery’, and brand new material. For the last song of the concert Keith crowd surfed without missing a beat of the song.

A great concert, great crowd, great band and a great interview, nothing less than great. So check out the interview, their music and wait in anticipation for ‘Barbara’, being released in May, 2010.

(Ignore the title of the video, long story!)
