First of all, Japandroids is a great name for a band. Maybe a bit hard to take seriously but none the less an awesome name. I don’t know how much influence band names have over the music you choose to listen to but it can sometimes be the deciding vote as to whether I listen to a track or not.
With so many ‘The’ bands around, it’s nice to see some artists us a bit of creativity when coming up with a name.
Japandroids are Brian King and David Prowse from Vancouver, Canada. Their debut album ‘Post Nothing’ is already out in Canada but is available to the rest of the world on the 4th August. To pre-order the LP head over to Polyvinyl Records.
From the few tracks I have heard from the album so far the band seem to have a real energy, for only two guys they make a lot of noise. The shared vocals work well and add to the depth of the tracks.
Stand out tracks from what I have heard of Japandroids so far are ‘Heart Sweats’ and ‘Young Hearts Spark Fire’, both of which you can listen to below.
