These reviews of the week seem to come round so fast, here’s my highlights of this week on the web. Share these links to help support Indiescreet and the blogs linked to.

Covert Curiosity introduced us to a strange release of a mash-up between Grizzly Bear and Lil Wayne

“VeckaFlyest is a short but sweet project by NYC production duo The Soundmen, pairing Grizzy Bear samples and Lil Wanye’s vocals.”

You can listen to one of the tracks, called ’2 Weeks Till Prom’, over on Covert Curiousity’s blog.

ZME Music directed me towards the online stream of The Dead Weather’s new album Horehound

“You can now silence your curiosity, though, as “Horehound” is streaming right now in its entirety on facebook (nice to see less myspace). Before writing this article, I’ve been frantically listening to it for the last couple of hours, and all I can say to sum it is …. impressive. I still need a couple of listens to sink in and better digest it, but I’m definitely linking it so far.”

The Line Of Best Fit gave a detailed review of the Bella Union Stage at this years Wireless Festival

“The Bella Union Stage is back, a bastion of talent and musicianship in the depths of er, the Wireless Festival. This year, Bella Union showcase an incredible lineup of Bella and non-Bella bands on a comparatively tiny bandstand, bobbing gently on the ocean of corporate sponsor tents”

Acts review include Banjo Or Freakout, The Low Anthem, St Vincent, Beth Jeans Houghton and more.

Music Madness gave a short and sweet review of The Cribs new single ‘Cheat On Me’

“It’s good to have the Cribs back, particularly when they have a new member, and that member was one of The Smiths. Johnny Marr is making his presence known with his great guitar work, and Ryan Jarman’s voice rules the song as always, and the sheer power of his voice when he sings “cheat on me, cheat on me” sounds great.”

Chrome Kids gave us this awesome remix of James Brown’s ‘It’s A Man’s World’

“Our boy Parker has come up with some fine funkdafied goodies in the past, generally a tad too traditional for these pages but dope nonetheless. However when it comes to his interpretation of the Godfather of Funk himself he’s gone rather Dubstep on us, albeit from a classic live stance in keeping with his general style.”
