This weeks review of the week includes a bit of self promotion. Over the past week I was given the opportunity to guest post on the awesome blogs that are ZME Music and Indieball. Hopefully my articles are up to scratch and the opportunities for guest posts will continue in the future.
On ZME Music I wrote about Jack Penate and his new track ‘Pull My Heart Away
“For those of you unfamiliar with Jack Penate imagine a male version of Kate Nash. If you’re unaware of who Kate Nash is consider yourself very lucky. The next single release is ‘Pull My Heart Away’, the albums opening track which really sets the scene and as good as the previous two singles are is by far the stand out track from the LP.”
Over at Indieball I wrote an article about Reverend & The Makers and their new single ‘Silence Is Talking’
“Reverend & The Makers are a Sheffield based band who’s influences range from Bob Marley to Oasis via Sly & The Family Stone. The Reverend is Jon McClure, a politically charged lyricist who has in the past penned tracks with his former flatmate, Arctic Monkeys front man Alex Turner.”
OK enough self loving, back to other great posts I have found this week.
The Bay Bridged reviewed Dirty Projectors live @ The Independent
“Sold out and packed early. The Dirty Projectors have proven themselves quite the draw as they tour in support of their latest album “Bitte Orca” (Domino). The Night started out normal enough. Few people walking it at their leisure, but as opening band What’s Up took the stage a palatable sense of urgency filled the air.”
Product Shop NYC gave a great review of Wavves at the Bowery Ballroom
“I have never seen a mosh pit break out faster in my entire life. The second Wavves played the first note of the first song, the crowd started slamming into each other (and I immediately moved to the side…does that make me old?!). Fans were stage diving, and one girl even lost her Crocs (people still wear those??). I liked the band’s frantic beats and blurred vocals, and drummer Ryan Ulsh was great.”
The Music Magazine posted news of Muse releasing a new track to the public via a global treasure hunt
“So when news reached us about The Resistance – the new album due out in September – I was pretty excited. They’ve now decided that they will be giving fans a chance to hear a new song – United States Of Eurasia – piece by piece through the completion of several treasure hunt challenges. These are far more complicated than the usual question quizzes, and the results have taken fans to Paris and Berlin so far – with four more to go.”
The treasure hunts sounds like fun and I can’t wait to hear the full Muse track and new album due in September.
As always I urge you to share this post with your friends and random strangers. Click on any of the social media links below to share this post and give Indiescreet and all the blogs featured in this weeks review a wider audience.
