First of all in this weeks review of the week is my view on Arctic Monkeys web transmission which took place yesterday (July 30th). A great way to build hype for the new album by the band but not much else. Nothing ground breaking but I do however believe this idea will be taken up by more bands in the not too distant future. The only thing that annoyed me was how dark everything was, no I’m not talking about the tracks for once. I mean the lighting, it would have been nice if you could actually see the bloody band after all the hype!
If you missed the transmission then the videos will probably be on YouTube by now.
Now back to this week’s review of the week.
Sonic Dice gave details of Dinosaur Pile Up’s new EP and tour
“Out on August 17 Dinosaur Pile-Up will release their new EP, modestly titled ‘The Most Powerful EP In The Universe’. It is led by ‘Summer Hit Single’, which debuted by Zane Lowe on Radio One. The EP also features a new version of the live favourite ‘Opposites Attract’, which features in its original form on the new Huw Stephen’s Wichita compilation, ‘Music Sounds Better With Huw’.”
Melophobe shared this cover of MGMT’s ‘Kids’ from Melpo Mene
“Melpo Mene do a way better job of covering MGMT than Katy Perry. And thank goodness, too. The “Kids” cover is slow, sparse, and sad-seeming. Give’er a go.”
See it below.
Kitsune Noir published their latest mixtape featuring Patrick Wolfe, Black Dice, Final Fantasy and more
“Well we’re definitely in the throes of summer here in the northern hemisphere, so I thought another mixtape may get everyone excited and the hot weather off their minds. This is kind of the first part of a summer mixtape called I’ll Carry You On, while the second part will be released in about a month or so.”
The Culture Of Me posted news on Dananananaykroyd drummer John Baillie Junior breaking his arm
“Dananananaykroyd drummer John Baillie Junior “fell off stage two songs in to their set at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney”, breaking his arm and causing the other manic Scots in his band to cancel all of their remaining dates, refunding money and whatnot, to wait out the healing process.”
Get well soon John, love Indiescreet!
As always some great posts, be sure to share this article to help all the blogs I have listed.
