Once again the week is coming to an end and the weekend is beginning.
Here are some of the best links I have found over the past week.
Love Action Luvs Friday Mixes – June 19th Mix #10 – And so do I. This weekly mixtape features anything and everything that Jessie Ward of Love Action has been enjoying over the past week. This weeks mix includes Vampire Weekend, Fleetwood Mac, Avalanches and Frankmusik. Here’s Jessie’s take on this weeks mix,
“This week’s mix is made up of blissful yet mellow summery tunes spanning across the decades and genres. Singalong moments meshed with shimmering guitars and beat beat beats.”
Very well put. Check out Susie & Jessie Film Production and the Love Action Myspace page for more information.
Real Horrorshow Tunes reviewed the brand new Discovery LP – “This album, the side project band of Rostam Batmanglij and Wes Miles from Vampire Weekend and Ra Ra Riot respectively, is probably the most unexpected turn to come from the two in my opinion. Just so different to what they have done in the past. But it’s also possibly the best thing they could of done, both challenging and confounding critics of the techniques used here, especially the dreaded auto-tune.”

Don’t Fear The Mainstream posted about a new Weird Al release called Craigslist – “Weird Al Yankovic, hard-working genius that he is, has just released a new Internet-only track. Entitled “Craigslist,” the song is an original work done in the style of the Doors, and Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek even plays on the track.”
Leila Thomas highlighted 7 Inspiring Indie Music Videos – “Like most people, I’m a music lover, and I especially love finding the more obscure artists. Below, I’ve compiled a list of seven creative, indie music videos. All of the artists featured in this entry produced their music under independent music labels (though some do have major label distribution setups). These are not just artists that “sound indie.” They actually are.”
Below is one of the videos chose by Leila, Fleet Foxes – Mykonos.
Jamila Scott over at Fucking Dance wrote about The Answering Machine’s debut album Another City, Another Sorry – The Answering Machine are a band I have written about previously, check out the related posts for more on them. Jamila had this to say about the bands debut album,
“The Answering Machine have created a fantastic first album. kicking off with the album title track, they launch straight into their signature ‘Strokes-meets-a lot-of-sunshine’ sound and set the tone for the 37 minutes that are to follow.”
Thats the best of what I have found this week. Any links you wish to share with me? Let me know via the usual methods and I look forward to hearing your feedback.
