I’ve been umming and ahhing over whether to write about Kid British for a few days now. After hearing that the guys will be performing for free in Manchester as part of the BBC Introducing gigs my mind was made up.
The bands new single, Our House Is Dadless, is a very catchy song which samples Madness’ Our House.
As much as I like the song I’m just not sure how much staying power it has. I could see the song being a big summer hit due to its laid back style but relying on rehashing original is not something you can do too often. It will be interesting to hear the full album and I will make more of a judgement then.
As for now i feel the single is a guilty pleasure but that’s not going to stop me enjoying the tune.
Kid British are playing BBC Manchester Introducing, which is free, on Friday June 26th at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester. There will be two other acts supporting Kid British at the gig, they are yet to be announced. For more information on the event head over to the BBC – Manchester website.

Kid British consist of Adio Marchant, James Mayer, Simeon Mclean and Sean Mbaya and hail from Manchester.
The band have recently been supporting The Enemy and The Specials on tour and are appearing at a number of festivals over the summer including Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, Wickerman and V Festival.
Kid British’s debut album It Was This Or Football is released June 29th and the single Our House Is Dadless is released July 6th.
