Maximo Park played a secret gig over the weekend in Manchester (May 23rd). The Newcastle band played a short set at Mrs Boon’s Tea Party.

Mrs Boon’s Tea Party is a regular free event hosted by Inspiral Carpets’ Clint Boon and his wife. The event is held to give unsigned acts a chance to perform but has also seen performances from The Enemy and Reverend And The Makers in the past.

Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith had this to say about the event,

“We appreciate the opportunity to do something like this. We’ve known Clint [Boon] for a while and he’s always been a supporter of ours, so it’s great to be able to do someone else a favour.”

Maximo Park’s third album Quicken The Heart has received good reviews and praise since its release and reached a very impressive number six in the charts.
