Flavour of the month, Swedish duo jj, have released a couple of brand new tracks for our listening pleasure.
‘Let Go’ is a sweet, melodic track featuring harmonicas, waves and pretty much all round loveliness throughout. It’s probably my favourite original track I’ve heard from jj and spells good things for their upcoming new album.
‘My Way’ is a different story all together, featuring a Lil Wayne sample and a poem from Charles Manson. The track blends the peacefulness and tranquillity of jj’s song with Weezy’s lyrical breakdown rather effortlessly.
Old label Sincerely Yours released the tracks along with a poem to suit,
“OK, jj went to malaga to have some fun, get some sun and 2 albums done. it was back in the fall of 2008 when they had both lost their virginity to insanity and were looking for moments of clarity. a plane to spain felt like a reasonable opportunity. so with money in the bank, nobody to thank, it started with a drank. and a couple of hours later the on the 29th of september they had felt the first breeze coming in from africa, sweet winds of melodies pure and true.”
‘Let Go’ will be featured on jj’s upcoming new album entitled jj n° 3, which is due for release in March 9th on Secretly Canadian. Sadly, ‘My Way’ is only a bonus track not scheduled for release, probably due to it being difficult to get permission for the samples of Lil Wayne and Charles Manson used in the track.
