The Flaming Lips are back with a couple of tracks from their forthcoming new album ‘Embryonic’.

The songs were posted by the band a couple of days ago and after a couple of days to divulge the new material here are my views.

‘Silver Trembling Hands’ is a dreamy track with a somewhat lounge band style chorus which fits in with the more powerful choruses. A great track, which upon hearing is recognisable to anyone who has listened to previous Flaming Lips albums.

‘Convinced Of The Hex’ is a bit less Flaming Lipsy. If that makes sense. Coyne’s vocals are much sharper and edgier than usual and an industrial beat backs the song.

All in all both tracks are good but I’m more of a fan of Silver Trembling Hands so far.

‘Embryonic’ will be The Flaming Lips’ 12 studio album. From what I have heard so far it seems they are never short of inspiration and ideas for new music. I am looking forward to the album, which is released on the 29th of September.

    Me too Kate, me too!

I only really got into The Flaming Lips after hearing their last album.

But I’ve been hooked ever since and have taken this news as a sign to listen to even more of their back catalogue. Definitely worth it!

Also I forgot to put in the post but ‘Embryonic’ will be a double album, which means twice as much Flaming Lips for your money!
