Each copy of Pixies new box set Minotaur will be signed by all four members of the band it has been revealed.

The box set, which was available to pre order from yesterday, June 15th, has been created and designed by artist Vaughan Oliver who has designed artwork for the band in the past for material such as Surfer Rosa and Doolittle.

There will only a limited edition 3,000 copies of the box set available and a steep $495 price tag may seem a lot.

Frontman Frank Black had this to say about the seemingly expensive price tag,

“These things aren’t cheap to manufacture or buy. This is a limited thing, not just schlepped out into the universe — there are only 3,000 of them. You have to be interested in this type of thing. If not, I don’t recommend you spend $500. It’s a giant tangible art object, with original prints, photos DVDs and Blu-rays, not just CDs.”

The epic box set consists of all the original studio albums, Blu-ray and DVD discs, five 12-inch albums cut from the original analogue tapes and pressed on 180-gram vinyl, a faux-fur hardcover 96-page book of Oliver and photographer Simon Larbalestier’s project artwork and two wall posters.

Are you a Pixies fan? Would you fork out $500 to own a timeless piece of Pixies memorabilia? Did you see Pixies at the Isle Of Wight Festival last weekend?

Below are two of my favourite Pixies tracks amongst many.
