Oasis had no choice but to leave the Heaton Park stage twice last night (June 4th) due to technical difficulties during their show.
There were delays for approximately 50 minutes for the crowd but fans were told they would be able to apply for refunds.
The Manchester band had just started their set when they were disrupted by sound problems. They had just cracked into their first song, Rock ‘N’ Roll Star when they were forced to abandon the stage for 10 minutes.
Upon returning the band continued their set with Lyla before facing yet more problems, this time with generator trouble.
The band once again left the stage to boos from the crowd and returned after a long 40 minutes to continue their troubled set.
Through the set Liam Gallagher told the crowd,
“Really sorry about that. This is a free gig now. Everyone will get a refund.”
Noel said,
“The curfew’s 11, but we’ll play ’til they kick us off. Keep your ticket and you’ll get your money back.”
Later on through the set, however, Noel seemed to backtrack slightly on the thought of every one of the 70,000 people wanting their money back, stating to the crowd,
“We’re not sure how its gonna work with getting the money back. Be on a website or summat. We’re not getting paid for this so buy a t-shirt on the way out. Credit crunch and that, keep my kids in sweets.”
“If you’re getting your mum and dad to pick you up outside afterwards, tell we’re not leaving til 2am. Kind of regret offering you your money back now. Apply for it back if you wanna be a cunt, we do our best for you.”
It will be interesting to see what happens in regards to this and lets hope there are no more problems when Oasis come back to play Heaton Park tomorrow night (June 6th) and Sunday night (June 7th).
