Dananananaykroyd describe themselves as ‘fight pop’. A good analogy I’d say, a mix of screaming vocals and heavy beats combined with catchy hooks and indie pop tunes is a tough one to pull off. Kudos to Dananananaykroyd for making it sound so easy.

Now onto the bands name, apparently it is taken from the name of the actor Dan Aykroyd, which I guess is pretty obvious, and the Batman theme tune mixed together. I guess I get it, but in some of the reviews I’ve read about the band it seems to be a problem. In some ways I can see why, but I like a band with a good name, I think it adds character and uniqueness.

Back to the music, the bands debut album, titled ‘Hey Everyone!’ has been out since April and is a great record. Tracks I recommend from the album are ‘The Greater Than Symbol And The Hash’ (which remind me of At The Drive-In), ‘Pink Sabbath’ and ‘Black Wax’.

Dananananaykroyd’s next single from the album will be ‘Some Dresses’. To accompany this single the band have released a very quirky video. Imagine MGMT filming their video to ‘Time To Pretend’ in a forest in Scotland.
