Last week I posted an article featuring bands to watch at this years Reading & Leeds Festivals. One of the bands featured were Wonderswan.
Wonderswan are part of what seem to be a group of upcoming bands, including the likes of Dinousaur Pile-Up and Lovvers, who are pushing music forward by taking inspiration from bands of previous generations.
Wonderswan’s blend of lo-fi, grunge and indie is captured effortlessly and makes for a great sound.
The bands debut single, ‘Furrrpile’, was recorded with Ross McGowan who has worked with the likes of Copy Haho and Dananananaykroyd. It’s a nostalgic track featuring melodic vocals mixed with prominent guitar riffs which really stands out.
Other tracks such as ‘Hey Nature’ (featured here) and ‘Curve’ (featured below) offer something similar with their lo-fi sound yet still sounding fresh and energetic.
‘Furrrpile’ is out October 5th and will be followed by the bands debut album in the near future.
MP3: Wonderswan – ‘Curve’
